The Top 5 Budget Smartphones

Posted by on Jan 30, 2016 in Smartphone Accessories | Comments Off on The Top 5 Budget Smartphones

There is a lot of innovation going on in the smartphone world right now. Smartphones are getting better by the day. Unfortunately these great new features aren’t cheap and so neither are the best smartphones. Though that doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a great smartphone on a budget. Here is a look at some of the best budget smartphones available today. All these phones cost under £200 and give you great value for money.

OnePlus X

The OnePlus X is a great little phone with an attractive design and a bright display. It has plenty of storage, a powerful camera, and a huge 3GB of RAM. Unfortunately there is no NFC connectivity and it’s also very difficult to get your hands on one as you can only get them on an invite only system. Though if you do get your hands on one you’ll definitely love it.

Wileyfox Storm

This may be the first phone released by Wileyfox but it’s still on par with OnePlus. In some ways the Storm is better than the OnePlus. It features a full-HD display, 32GB of storage and a brilliant 20MP rear camera. The front facing camera is 8MP, all of which are very impressive given the price. Overall this is the phone for you if you want what the OnePlus X offers but without needing to get an invite.

Sony Xperia M4 Aqua

The Xperia M4 Aqua is Sony’s offering for the mid-range and it’s definitely an improvement on the old M2 Aqua, but now there are phones that are better still than the M4. Though that doesn’t take away from how good this phone is. This is the only phone on this list that has IP68 waterproof technology that should protect the electronics in the event of it falling in to water.

The phone features a 5-inch 720p screen and a great battery considering it’s a mid-range phone. If you’re a fan of Sony then this really is the best Sony phone under £200.

Moto G (2015 model)

Even though the Moto G isn’t the absolute best budget phone around it’s still an incredible phone and the best cheap phone from Motorola. The phone has a high quality display even though it uses 720p, and the quad-core processor delivers fast performance with most tasks. It is also compatible with the latest version of the Android OS. The Moto G was finally upgraded to have 4G as well. Unfortunately it still doesn’t have NFC connectivity yet. It’s a shame but it’s just one problem that doesn’t detract too much from how incredible the phone is.

Acer Liquid Jade S

The Acer Liquid Jade S may have some flaws but it does also have some of the best performance you can find in a dual-SIM smartphone.  It uses an octa-core processor to deliver incredible performance speeds. The design is another great thing about the phone. It features a lightweight and curvy design that gives you a strong phone that feels good in your hands.

Despite that there are still some areas where the Acer falls short. The battery life and the cameras could be a lot better. So even though this is a great phone it isn’t the absolute best around. There are many budget smartphones out there. This list is only some of the best. If you need a smartphone on a budget then just be a smart shopper and you can’t make the wrong choice. Any of these phones are a good option. Don’t forget to shop around a little to get the best deals on these phones and more. Different stores have different deals after all.

Posted by on Jan 11, 2016 in Smartphone Accessories | Comments Off on The Top 5 Wireless Headphones You Can Buy

Wireless headphones are all about freeing you from wires. You don’t need them after all. But you should be aware that wireless gadgets like headphones can be a little tricky. Some are great, some are not so good. The following is a list of five of the best wireless headphones around today. Save yourself time and money with this list.

Sennheiser Momentum Wireless

square_louped_MOMENTUM_II_BT_AE_black-sq-01Everyone who is serious about audio has heard of Sennheiser. They are one of the best companies around for audio equipment. Unfortunately this kind of name also carries a high price tag. But when you consider all the high points of a pair of headphones like this, such as their build, sound quality, battery life, and longevity, these are still the best headphones for people who don’t mind the high price.

Jabra Move Wireless

Jabra_Move_wireless_3cHWZ_0We go from the most expensive to a more budget option. Though not that cheap considering the tech. The Jabra Move wireless features a bold and beautiful blue design that will catch your eye straight from the get-go. Though it has more than that. These headphones perform very well and give you great sound for the price. The only knock is a lack of real noise isolation.

Plantronics BackBeat Sense

backbeat-sense-sideviewIf you’re interested in style and want something a little more than the Jabra then the Plantronics BackBeat Sense are the headphones for you. They cost more of course, but still have a very attractive design and a few more features too. They have a smart sensor that detects whether you’re wearing the headphones to save battery life, though the battery is impressive as it is. The controls are fluid and easy to use and these headphones will work with any smartphone that has Bluetooth connectivity.

Sony MDR-ZX770BT

sony-mdr-zx770bt-hero-1200-80The Sony MDR-ZX770BT may not be the prettiest pair of headphones around but they have enough going on inside to make up for the lack of attractive design. The headphones are put together well using high quality materials given the price. The sound quality isn’t ideal but it’s still a full sound. One of the best things about it is the battery life though. It’s advertised at 17 hours but you can get 20 out of them if you try.

Koss BT540i

koss-bt540i-hero-970-80If you want value for money out of your headphones then you’ll enjoy these Koss BT540i headphones. Koss is famous for giving you the most out of your money and they keep this trend going with the BT540i.

While these headphones don’t have some of the best features such as touch controls or noise cancellation, they do have the sound quality you want and comfy ear cushions that let you enjoy it for longer. Unfortunately it can take a little getting used to where all the buttons are.

If you want a pair of wireless headphones that do a great job then you can’t go wrong with a pair of headphones featured in this list. Some of them are better than others so think about what you need out of your headphones and how much you’re willing to spend to get it.

Top 5 Smartwatches of 2015

Posted by on Dec 2, 2015 in Smartphone Accessories | Comments Off on Top 5 Smartwatches of 2015

If you’re a tech geek then you own a smartwatch, or have at least heard of them. They’re still relatively new but there’s a whole lot of choice on the market. With that in mind here is a breakdown of five of the best smartwatches around right now.

Pebble may be new but they’ve given us undoubtedly the best smartwatch for the money. It’s just $99 and gives you access to thousands of apps and watch faces in a sleek and waterproof little watch. It comes in a number of colors and sends notifications straight to your wrist. It works great with fitness apps like Runkeeper and comes with an ePaper design that can even be read in the light of the sun. There is a $199 model that’s a little more advanced but overall this is still the best value.

Moto 360

moto 360This is the second generation of Moto 360 smartwatches and it’s definitely an improvement on the first. This one is more customisable for a start. You can design your Moto 360 yourself using the Moto Maker online app. You decide the colors and straps to create the right watch for you. It runs on Android Wear and is also compatible with Android thanks to the iOS Android Wear app. A great (and unique) little feature is the live dials feature. This brings a lot of functionality to your little screen. The Moto Body app monitors your body as your exercise. There are also plans for a Sports model that features GPS. This would be the prefect accessory for my LG G6.

Pebble Time Steel

pebbletimesteelThe Pebble is back, this time with the aptly named Time Steel. This watch is undoubtedly the best in terms of battery life. It gives you everything you would want out of a smartwatch and has a battery that lets you do it all. It can last up to a whopping ten days without a charge. It also has a timeline interface that makes it ideal for people on a schedule. You can just scroll through the calendar and find or create events. It uses an eInk display that is remarkably easy to read in the daylight and it looks and feels professional thanks to the metal design.

Tag Hauer Connected

the-tag-heuer-connected-is-the-first-smartwatch-that-apple-should-be-worried-aboutNow this smartwatch is definitely one of the most expensive Android Wear watches at $1,500 but it also has plenty of tricks to make it worth it. The Connected can connect using Wi-Fi and Bluetooth but, more than that, it can also monitor the wind and the weather and has a whopping 4GB of internal storage. The Connected also features an Intel CPU rather than the usual Qualcomm chip you find in smartwatches. It features special faces and apps for keeping track of golf and recommending restaurants. Though considering the price a metal strap would be better than the rubber one you get. Though one bonus is that, if you aren’t satisfied with your Connected after two years, you can pay another $1,500 to trade it for the more traditional Carrera watch, a watch that will sell for more than the $3,000 you’d have paid by that point.

Huawei Elegant and Jewel

downloadThe new smartwaches by Huawei, the Elegant and Jewel, have microphones and speakers so you can use them to make calls straight from your wrist. You can actually use these watches as phones. The Elegant lives up to its name as it features an elegant design, while the Jewel is adorned with beautiful Swarovski crystals. Both watches are also sport models with simple designs. The watch is compatible with all Android phones including the all new Huawei Mate 9.

A smartwatch is a fantastic little gadget that can do quite a bit. Provided you get a good one. The watches featured in this list are all good choices. Pick the one that’s best suited for your needs and budget.
